Designed for clinicians who want to deepen their understanding of periodontal care, strengthen their clinical confidence and explore new perspectives on professional development, Perio Immersed offers something different from a conventional course or shadowing day.

Clinical immersion
Experience the working environment of a specialist periodontal practice, observing selected real patient appointments alongside our experienced clinical team.
Depending on the appointments scheduled during your visit, you may gain exposure to:
- Comprehensive periodontal assessment and treatment planning
- Non-surgical periodontal therapy and supportive periodontal care
- Contemporary hygiene protocols, including airflow
- Laser-assisted periodontal treatment and adjunctive technologies

You’ll have opportunities to explore the clinical workflows, technologies and treatment approaches used within specialist practice.
As Perio Immersed takes place within a working clinical environment, observations depend on scheduled appointments and individual procedures cannot be guaranteed.

Through discussions with members of the Pure Periodontics team, including Elena and Roxy, you’ll explore treatment coordination, patient engagement, clinical handovers, follow-up communication and the role of effective practice workflows.
The aim isn’t to train you as a treatment coordinator. It’s to help you understand how clinical and non-clinical processes work together, and how these insights can support your own clinical role.

Her involvement offers delegates the opportunity to explore specialist clinical reasoning, treatment planning, patient communication and the wider considerations that shape periodontal care.
Through dedicated discussions, Neesha encourages clinicians to question, reflect and develop a deeper understanding of their own professional practice.
Kirstie Thwaites

With over 20 years of experience in dental hygiene and therapy, including advanced periodontal care, clinical teaching and undergraduate education, Kirstie Thwaites brings a wealth of practical experience to the programme.
Kirstie leads the clinical observation experience, offering insights into specialist periodontal hygiene, treatment approaches, clinical workflows and patient communication.
Through dedicated clinical reflection and debriefing, she helps delegates connect what they’ve observed with the realities of their own clinical practice.

Step into the working environment of a specialist periodontal practice for a day of clinical observation, discussion and professional insight.
Your experience includes:

- Exposure to contemporary periodontal approaches and clinical workflows
- Discussion around clinical assessment, treatment planning and decision-making
- A dedicated clinical debrief with Kirstie
- Specialist clinical and professional development discussion with Neesha
- Insight into treatment coordination and the patient journey with Elena
- Practice workflows, teamwork and communication with Roxy
- Time for personal reflection and identifying development priorities
Throughout the day, you’ll have opportunities to ask questions, explore different perspectives and consider how your learning relates to your own clinical practice.

Reflect and apply
Learning doesn’t end when you leave the practice.
Between your two visits, you’ll have time to reflect on what you’ve observed and consider how relevant insights might influence your clinical approach.
A follow-up discussion provides an opportunity to explore what has changed, identify new questions and establish priorities for your return visit.

Return with purpose
A personalised half-day, approximately one month later
Your return visit is designed to build on your first experience.
Depending on your interests, learning objectives and the clinical schedule, it may include targeted clinical observation, further faculty discussions, reflection or exploration of specific clinical and professional challenges.
Rather than simply repeating your first visit, this second session provides an opportunity to revisit ideas with fresh perspectives and focus on what matters most to you.
Clinical observation opportunities are subject to the appointments scheduled within the practice. Specific treatments or procedures cannot be guaranteed.
